The Story of Qian Liu
Qian Liu (852-932), courtesy name Jumei, was a native of Lin'an, Hangzhou. He was the founding ruler of the Wuyue Kingdom during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Born into a humble background, Qian Liu joined the military in his early years, gradually rising to prominence due to his outstanding military achievements. Ultimately, he established the Wuyue Kingdom in the chaotic late Tang period, ruling over what is now Zhejiang, Shanghai, and southern Jiangsu
with Hangzhou as its capital.
During the chaotic late Tang period, faced with the approaching army of Huang Chao, the young general Qian Liu cleverly defended Hangzhou with a strategic deception. He ordered his soldiers to beat drums and light fires at night, creating an illusion of strength that caused the enemy forces to retreat without a fight.
This classic battle exemplified the traditional Chinese wisdom of "winning through intelligence." After establishing the Wuyue Kingdom, Qian Liu adhered to the principle of "protecting the territory and ensuring the people's well-being," undertaking water conservancy projects and developing agriculture and commerce, turning the Jiangnan region into a peaceful haven during turbulent times.
His governance strategies teach us that true leadership wisdom lies not in expansion and conquest but in protecting the people's livelihood; not in hard confrontation but in the skillful use of strategy. This spirit of putting the people first and practical progress is still worthy of emulation today.

Courage and responsibility are two eternally shining constellations in the epic of human civilization. If courage is the axe that cleaves chaos, then responsibility is the lamp that ensures the light never dims.
From Socrates' declaration "Athenians, I will die, you will live, whose fate is better? Only God knows" as he drank the poison, to Zhang Qian's thirteen years of missions opening up the West, history repeatedly shows us: responsibility is not a cold chain, but the wings that distinguish humans from all other beings. When responsibility becomes the foundation of a person's life, they gain transcendent power.

A General History of China
This classic popular history book systematically outlines the development of Chinese civilization from ancient legend times to modern times along a chronological timeline. The book uses vivid language, rich stories, and a clear structure to present readers with a grand panorama of Chinese history.
The story of "Shennong tasting hundreds of herbs" reflects the most primitive and enduring spirit of Chinese civilization—sacrificing oneself for the survival of the community.
The tale of Shennong may only be a legend, but the cultural psychology it shapes flows truthfully in our blood. From healthcare workers fighting epidemics to aerospace engineers tackling challenges, the spirit of "taking risks for the people" has never disappeared. When we read "A General History of China," we are engaging in a dialogue across time and space—we are both the receivers of the flame of civilization and its transmitters.
The deeper meaning of history is often hidden in myths: the true "herbs" of civilization are always those unknown challenges; the best "whips" are our courage to stay true to our original aspirations.

The Courage to Be Disliked
This book, presented in the form of dialogues, explores the core ideas of Adlerian psychology in a simple yet profound manner. It helps us unravel the anxiety traps in life and the workplace, offering a new perspective on viewing life and managing interpersonal relationships.
Life is made up of continuous moments, and we should seriously live each "here and now" moment.
Having "the courage to be disliked" doesn't mean intentionally provoking others, but having the courage to do the right thing, even if it might face opposition or dissatisfaction from others. It is the courage to live truthfully in a world full of judgments, to persist in creating value amidst the nihilism of meaning collapse, and to navigate the maze of society without losing or closing off oneself.
This courage comes from self-affirmation and adherence to values, not from blind conformity to external pressures.
